Tinfoil And Magnets
May. 4th, 2019 10:14 pmI have spent the evening with a sheet of tinfoil, a pack of magnets, a pile of glass beads, and a hot glue gun. It turned out really well for me! I have made fifty two lovely magnets for my project board.
Strangely, glass beads were really hard to find. I wanted those squashed-marble glass blobs, you know, the ones people put in vases and fish tanks and stuff. But the craft stores have started spray painting theirs cheaply, and the color chips off! I wanted ones with depth of color, not just flat gloss. The pet store turned out to be a winner, and I got a pack of amber colored ones. Depending on the lighting, they go from "drops of honey" to "eye of Sauron" and I love them a lot.
(The tinfoil, incidentally, was for making them catch the light better. Really helps reflect the light and sparkle more, instead of looking dark and dull.)
I haven't had much time or energy for projects in the past few days, but this has been very enjoyable, and it's going to help me get around to the other projects - the bulletin board contains both sewing projects and Room Improvement projects, and I am very motivated by the ability to move little pieces of paper around. I might be able to finish the laundry hamper in the next day or two! After that, according to my bulletin board, comes quilt repairs for Snail, and then I need to shovel some stuff in the mail. And then a new pillowcase for the big reading pillow...
