I got a fair amount of knitting done over the weekend. Go me! And, obviously, I also did some television watching because that's what I do while knitting -- that's how I get like three inches of wrong-color-scarf. LOL. It could be that this strategy has some issues and also I'm still having feelings about the scarf so it's still in timeout.

No time for scarf means more time for afghan! )

Mini cheesecakes! A report!

Yesterday I mentioned I was attempting mini cheesecakes using the smash cake pans I had purchased some time ago. And so I attempted.

How did that go? )

In today's afghan progress, there was some knitting of a brown square (which we've seen before) and SIX SQUARES worth of weaving in ends (because I'd mentioned that would be a lot to do at once in the last update) and ONE washing-and-blocking of a square to finished dimensions.

We document our milestones over here... )

This damn scarf is cursed. All the yarn is the same color and same dye lot. It says it is all the same.

Why you gotta do me dirty like that, yarn? )

What I'm Reading Next

To make [personal profile] lysimache happy, I have very slowly started reading Les Misérables in the original French, after learning that the Kindle can now load translating dictionaries. (My old Kindle could not, but it's like 15 years old.) I don't think I'm going to finish it ever but, hey, I'm trying.

Hades

I know that everyone who wanted to play Hades has probably already played Hades and moved on to Hades 2, because Hades came out back in 2020, but this is my journal and I just finished the main storyline yesterday, so.

Hades, including some plot spoilers )

Up next in gaming: Not sure. I might play TR-49, which I just bought; I think that's a short one, and it looked like a fun puzzle game. I might also just play more Slay the Spire in preparation for StS2 next month. I know I said I wasn't gonna do Ascensions in StS, but I lied and started doing them. Of course, I'm at, like, 2. Out of 20. I will probably not get to 20.

I am also starting to feel well enough that I might consider playing a game on the Switch, which I haven't done since the migraines got bad, really, because holding a Switch is apparently a lot to ask of me, whereas games on the laptop means that the laptop sits right here next to me, and the 8bitdo controller also sits in my lap, so I don't have to lift anything. Yeah, I know. I've been really tired. At least right now I have enough energy to type this.

Shout out to the jackass rider in Thoth who threw my sister a roofied shot of fireball. (It was factory sealed. We don't know how it was spiked.) ((Smallest sister usually wouldn't accept random booze from a stranger, but had just received news that her PHD project had passed a committee and was going to the ethics review board. In the moment YOLO feelings were strong.))

Smallest sister is okay. She threw up and had a not great evening, but didn't even feel particularly hungover this morning.

If you ever suspect you've been drugged via a drink, throw up as soon as you can. Getting the drugs out of your stomach before they're fully absorbed will make things less bad.

Smallest sister will be contacting the Krewe and reporting the jackass when she's less mad.

A while back, I mockingly suggested how migrant detention was going to work in the (at the time) incoming Trump administration. I went over the top about it, in a Let's Eat The Irish Babies! style of thing.

I have been enjoying the hell out of Dr. Stone (anime), which I first watched during Covid lockdowns and am re/new watching with my anime group. As well, I enjoy "dude/dudette goes back in time, brings modern-ish tech to speedrun folks out of the middle ages" fiction. It's fun escapism and I really enjoy seeing the takes that different authors have on what they would introduce and how they would try to change history. I've talked about this before but there's one thing that these fictions keep doing wrong and today I'm going to talk about that.

Come inside... )

What I Just Finished Reading

Nothing, because I still don't have the brain. I guess technically I reread Iron Man: Crash for Book Club. Maybe I should go give myself credit on Goodreads for that. I mean, it's a graphic novel, so it should count. It's really bad.

What I'm Reading Now

Comics Wednesday!

Alien vs. Captain America #4, Ultimate X-Men #24 )

What I'm Reading Next

I am really hoping for more brain soon.
