Cabin Fever

I have a vile head cold, and there is nothing in the house but recycled hippie sandpaper. Gonna have to add that to my private grocery list, along with real ketchup. At least I have postcard stamps. It is a long hike to the mailbox, the internet is dodgy, and I feel really isolated and trapped here. I'm going to be here for much longer than I want to be. I've been making a lot of postcards. Thank god I brought a little box of pens and paint. It's something that I can do indoors while it rains constantly, and the kiddo likes making art too. She has started asking me to cut her watercolor paper into postcards, so we can be the same. Makes the paper last longer, and I've mailed a couple of her postcards off to family. I've sent postcards to everyone on my list already, and I'm on round two.

I have managed the occasional hasty foray into a craft shop or a used book store. I have a small package of mixed buttons (introducing the kiddo to the button basket bought me a significant amount of quiet browsing time in the quilt shop), a pinecone-themed fat quarter for paper piecing wolves (remember that? god it's gonna be good to get back to my real life and real plans), and three reasonably priced books. I found all the terrible werewolf books in the store (they had that one where she makes out with the guy WHILE HE IS A WOLF. I did not get it) and discovered a new series with awful werewolf genetics. I will write up a proper review once I have wrung all the snot out of my brain.

One of the craft shops had roving! I figured, since I have seen the occasional sheep wandering around. I didn't buy any, since I have plenty of raw materials here. My carry-on was bulging with fluff, and my spindles are at my bedside. I have time to myself in the mornings and evenings, and spinning is very soothing. God knows I need it.

At least you are finding things to keep you busy. Sounds like the craft projects are going well and they're solid indoor activities. (I could do with some rain instead of the 20F day / 10F night temperatures we're getting here. My enthusiasm for outdoors is not so much dampened as frozen solid.)

I'm doing some indoor stuff (and spinning again! Your enthusiasm was kind of a kickstart for me, there) and working on the corporate taxes. Hibernation, unfortunately, is not a viable strategy but I am spending evenings with my basking rock (I have a heated mattress pad that is wonderful) and my phone full of books, under the covers. The weather also makes the cats exceptionally affectionate, so that's a plus, too.
