Hooray for dwarves and sewing rooms and making dwarves in sewing rooms!
I think there was a period of media and adaptations where characters were required to be written as blandly hyper-chummy. Anyone who's cranky or goes against the group consensus is wrong, and don't rebel against those nice and legitimate authority figures! (Batman wasn't even allowed to be a vigilante. The live-action show made him an officially recognized deputy of the police, which then appeared in the comics too.) And then the "all snarky banter all the time" thing started as a refreshing backlash against that.
But, it's been decades. We can take a break from snarky banter and show characters who enjoy each others' company again. It's ok.
