Keyboards, My Greatest Weakness
May. 18th, 2019 11:04 pmSo I started transcribing the Sollius mysteries. OCR shit itself and died - not a fan of columns, screenshots, nor of that yellowed paper background, apparently. I booted up my computer to transfer the PDFs over, and then immediately got distracted transcribing *another* short story I had started transcribing years ago. OCR also hated that - it is completely incapable of deciphering photos of a curved page. It's not very smart, is it. I suppose it's trying its best.
I'm going to be as sensible as I can about my wrists - I've been through transcription hell before, and while I don't have carpal tunnel syndrome, I also don't *want* carpal tunnel syndrome. Got a few good pages in today. Perhaps voice transcription software?
On a sad note, lost a fic recently. The authors pulled it right off AO3 - not orphaned, but deleted. It's really sad! I'm going to have to make time to download all the fics I've been reading, so this doesn't happen again. I wonder if I know anyone who has that fic? I've been asking around, but I have nothing so far. It's by vibraniumstark and captainshellhead, if anyone is familiar with their work.
