Rebuilding From Scratch
Mar. 22nd, 2019 09:01 pmI have spent much of the day pathetically in bed, feeling feverish though the thermometer says I'm fine. My cold has blossomed into something slimy and awful, and I'm very tired. I also got my eye exam, and reluctantly consented to getting my eyes dilated. My eye innards are apparently perfectly fine, as always, and I spent the next four hours cringing from the brutal Florida sun like a vampire. Glasses shopping was a wash, by the way - apparently the glasses style I like is out of fashion? Fuck fashion. This is part of my face! I'm gonna try other shops tomorrow.
My cats have forgiven me. Nanook was in the backyard when I arrived, and he started yowling the moment he heard my voice. There was a certain amount of snubbing and suspicious sniffing, but he came around when I got the treats out of the cabinet. Little mercenary. He has been snuggling and demanding bathroom time and my presence at meals, so we are back to normal. The other cats are playing Musical Chairs with my bed, so I have a cat at my feet more often than not. It's nice.
I have been reloading my bookshelf. It's one of those massive wall-eating monsters. I arrange it by "if you're reading this book, you're probably in the mood for this other book too" and I make a lot of absurd little mini-genres like Disaster Wizard, Werewolf Woobie, Old Timey Gay, Fairytale Satire, and Women With Swords, so it takes a while to decide where to put things. I've also set up the dime cart books in easy reach - I have 5'4" of dime cart books to read and either reject or integrate into my bookshelf, and depending on how that goes, I may have enough to create Historical Whodunits, People Doing Stuff, and Cool Facts sections.
Meanwhile, god only knows where my clothes and all my stuff went. I've got priorities here.
