I have now graduated to the "tingling stomach pain" stage of stress, and have taken antacids to ward off the imminent gastritis. I don't need that shit again, especially when I have so much to do. Today I discovered that I fucked up something important in a serious way, but I have the ability to fix it, and in fact to make it much better than it was before now that I'm paying more attention to it. Still super fucking stressful, though. This is some high stakes shit.

I really wanted this to be a platform where I show everyone how much cool stuff I do and attract new friends and talk about fun things, but sorry guys, my life has been one disaster after another recently. I'm planning to make a drop spindle, at least? I'm excited about the drop spindle.

I did manage a little creativity, at least - I repainted some of the newfangled Polly Pockets for the kiddo. The old ones, as you may know, were hard plastic with a waist hinge and feet that clicked into holes in the sets, and they had simple faces like Lego people. These new ones are produced by Mattel, owners of Barbie, and are rather Barbie-like! They're larger than the old Pollys, and are made of much softer plastic, so I suspect they will be much harder to snap. Their gummy plastic feet stick to the special mildly sticky surface on the floor of the sets. Their faces and hair basically look like Barbie, and they come with a stable of characters - Blonde Protag, Black Science Nerd, Redhead Who Likes Sewing, and A Boy. My grandma and I bought a compact and two little lockets, giving us a total of four Pollys, but unfortunately, three of them were Blonde Protag. We were picking the best sets for storytelling, not trying to get different characters. So I snipped off pigtails and repainted hair, eyes, eyebrows, and mouths (and touched up some details while I was there) until two of the Pollys no longer looked like clones of the third.

Incidentally, the true heirs of the old waist-hinge Polly? Oddly enough, Shopkins. Check out their Lil' Secrets playsets.
