I return at last, after Many Things Happened, none of which I want to talk about, and all of which are giving me a headache.

I just got back from the post office, where I mailed off two cards and a present. There is always a moment of confusion once I've paid, because I expect to receive a shopping bag after putting away my money, you know? The post office is a strange, backwards store where you hand over both your money and your stuff in exchange for a receipt.

Anyway, the price of sending a card in the mail always pleasantly surprises me - fifty cents! I'm used to sending off packages to inconveniently-located friends. I should send more cards. I have started taking photos of cards I make, which has greatly reduced my anxiety over things getting lost in the mail, and in turn reduced how much I pester friends to check their mailboxes. (It also lets me keep track of which limericks I have already used in the cards. I love a good limerick.)

I have really enjoyed painting recently, though I must admit my brushes are a little more fucked up by the kiddo than I thought at first. No worries, I have a spare pack of Ikea's finest somewhere. I'm probably going to start on another card soon; I have a holiday coming up and also I just really want to paint. It's very soothing to mix up paint colors and pet the brushes over the paper. Liquid watercolors are top notch, though the lid of my red cracked so it is now a solid watercolor. Ah well, it still works. That's the beauty of watercolor paint.

I have some little tubes of Extremely Cheap oil paint, and an urge to use them up. I've been idly considering finding a Bob Ross video and just going for it. What's the worst that could happen? My mother oil paints, so there's already turpentine in the house.
