I'm back from Fabric Quest! I wanted to spend some time with my grandma, and she wanted some more lace trim for the pillow shams she's making, so we went together. Unfortunately, some other crafter got there first, because the lace shelf was full of everything but the exact thing she was trying to match. After some research, we determined that the lace could be found in the next store over, and I put back the stuff I had picked out, figuring I could find it again.

The store was a bit of a drive, but I was committed to doing one good thing for my grandma before potentially disappearing for the rest of the time she was visiting. We only had to call home for directions once. My grandma was very pleased with the new store, and found her lace immediately, as well as some other stuff, like a purple and gold fleece mermaid tail for the kiddo (her favorite colors). I could not locate the hobbit necklace, so I picked out the best rainbow leopard tsum-tsum beanie baby. It looks like a newborn Lisa Frank creation with glittery eyes, so I have named it Frankly. There is a distinct possibility of the kiddo running off with Frankly, but that is okay. I just wanted something small and cute to keep me company, and, to be perfectly honest, I'm not bringing anything irreplaceable over there. Anyway, Frankly was one penny short of popping the $5 coupon, so I was obliged to buy a chocolate ball. Tragically, the chocolate ball wouldn't scan right (curved surfaces often don't) so I was obliged to eat it on the spot so I could straighten out the wrapper for the scanner. We do what we must.

I'm currently packing. It's going pretty well. I'm an experienced traveler, and I deal with my fear and loathing of travel by making very detailed packing lists. The greatest risk here is my urge to panic-pack every book I own, but thankfully I have a Kindle so I'm not trying to cram the Protector of the Small series and all the good Vampire Files into my suitcase. Quilting magazines are, however, a struggle. I have budgeted for three, and am currently on five. I am very carefully not looking at my bookshelf, for fear of realizing how many more books I desperately need to bring.
